National Girls in ICT lights up Dar es Salaam.

Girls in ICT Day is a global moment. In Tanzania it landed at Mlimani City this year, and Sanifu ran the daylong programme alongside the Ministry of ICT and a network of women practitioners who showed up to share their stories with 200 secondary-school girls.

What we ran

The day split into three tracks, with rotation so every participant got hands-on time in each.

  • Code lab, students built their first interactive web pages alongside engineers from local product teams.
  • Cyber clinic, guided introductions to digital safety, online identity, and the kind of threats that actually affect students online.
  • Career corner, open-ended conversations with women working in software, infrastructure, product, and policy.
I didn't know women did this work until today. Now I know I want to do it too.

We're keeping in touch with every student who attended. The follow-on programme, Astra Sparks, opens cohorts later in the year, and Girls in ICT 2025 participants get a guaranteed application review.
