Sanifu lands in Burundi, first cohort opens in Bujumbura.
Sanifu's first program outside Tanzania officially opens this month in Bujumbura, Burundi. The first cohort runs an eight-week digital skills and entrepreneurship track for 60 participants, half youth, half women-led business owners, in partnership with local community organisations.
Why Burundi
Burundi's digital ecosystem is at an inflection point. The infrastructure is improving, mobile penetration is rising, and a generation of young Burundians is ready to build. The gaps, accessible training, capital readiness, and exposure to working practitioners, are exactly the gaps Sanifu was built to close.
How we structured the first cohort
- 8 weeks of in-person and online sessions, three evenings a week.
- Hands-on curriculum: digital tools, problem-framing, basic e-commerce, simple security hygiene.
- Peer cohorts of 12, small enough that everyone knows everyone.
- Pairing with practising mentors via the Sanifu network.
