I joined CyberSimba almost by accident. My university team needed one more person for the qualifier round, and I said yes without knowing what capture the flag even meant. We came last. I could not stop thinking about how the top teams solved problems I could not even read.
So I practised. Every evening after class I logged into the CyberSimba platform and worked through challenges until they made sense. Nobody was grading me. I just wanted to understand how the systems actually worked.
Where practice led
By my second season my team placed third in our region. A firm that had partnered with the forum reached out, offered me a paid internship, and kept me on as a security analyst. I now build challenges for the students coming up behind me.
